Rietveld Foundation supports Kumi Hospital
Since 2012, Rietveld Foundation has been active near the small town of Kumi in Eastern Uganda in Africa, approximately 6 hours drive from the capital Kampala. Kumi Hospital is a hospital there, where a farm used to run, which provided the hospital with food. In recent decades, Kumi Hospital has been developed into a general hospital with a capacity of 350 beds. It provides primary medical care in addition to departments such as obstetrics, pediatrics, physiotherapy, surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology.
To make the hospital financially healthy and self-reliant again, reconstruction of the farm is necessary. To achieve this, the soil has been re-cultivated, machinery and buildings are being built or renovated where possible.
