Rietveld and Garmin launch new Android based onboard computer
March 19, 2015
On the Transport Exhibition in Hardenberg (The Netherlands), Rietveld launched, in collaboration with Garmin, the newest onboard computer and navigation solution; the Efficio2 for Android. “The icing on the cake after all our effort to develop an onboard computer system which is ready for the future.” Said mr. Rietveld, director of Rietveld B.V. The Efficio2 for Android was first seen live during this show.
The Efficio2 for Android onboard computer combines the new Android-based satellite navigation system Garmin Fleet 670, with an extremely reliable and user-friendly on-board computer solution. Featuring a rugged dust-proof design, built-in Bluetooth, Wifi and NFC capabilities, high-sensitivity GPS, extra loud speaker, and a sunlight readable, 6-inch capacitive touch screen, the Efficio2 for Android has been fully optimized for both in-cab and hand-held fleet use.
“The fleet 660 and 670 are our first products that combine trusted Garmin navigation and hardware with the flexibility of Android,” said Clive Taylor, Director, Fleet Management & Commercial Business at Garmin. “These new devices will wonderfully address some simple needs of fleets, such as signature capture for proof of delivery, and be able to solve many business issues we haven’t even yet thought of.”
These newest members to the Garmin fleet navigation series will enable Rietveld to integrate their latest Android fleet management application, the Efficio App, developed in conjunction with Garmin to provide fleets with a purpose-built, all-in-one fleet management and navigation device.
Mr. Rietveld is proud of the step that his company decided to take. “The Efficio2 has all the features that the market is expecting from us and is still modular, allowing us to provide a suitable solution to all kinds of businesses with different needs and requirements. For example messages for clear communication and relaxed planning, but also hours – and accountability activities via the onboard computer and the integration with TMS systems, which reduces and simplifies the administration. The Efficio2 is distinctive because it is a compelling onboard computer. By entering into cooperation with Garmin, the Efficio2 onboard computer not only has accurate (truck) navigation with lifetime map updates, but is it also offering countless other opportunities for organizations to integrate business processes, due to the enormous flexibility which is offered by the Android platform. ”
The Efficio2 does not only support the EasyTrack system of Rietveld but installations of external applications are also possible. This includes applications such as scanning and/or printing by linking additional hardware to the system. Also, the Efficio2 includes a mail application, and it is therefore possible to send documents from office to the drivers.
In addition to these extra features, the familiar existing applications are also present, the Lean and Green Tool EasyDrive is for example also available on Android. This gives drivers real-time feedback on their driving behavior while driving and generates extensive usage reports for the management. This development has also ensured that especially EasyDrive can be deployed broader because the application can run on other devices such as a smartphone.
“In Garmin we found a reliable partner that allows us to deliver a reliable system and to build for the future. The Efficio2 for Android is a comprehensive fleet management and navigation system which directs organizations in the route to profit.“
