Vebatrans, based in Urk, operates some 24 units, 20 tractor units and 4 solo trucks, and about 40 trailers. The transport company specializes in the transportation of fish, chilled and frozen. Due to the unpredictable nature of their transport, which often has to be ad hoc, it is essential for Vebatrans to be able to react quickly and have a fast on-board computer with accurate navigation system. They chose Rietveld’s latest on-board computer: the Efficio VT7PRO.
Efficiency in Transport
Roelof Hakvoort, fleet manager at Vebatrans, says: “Our trucks hardly ever stand still. Every Monday we get about 200 tons of fish from Iceland, which we transport via Rotterdam to our fish hub in Urk. From there we distribute the cargo with our trucks throughout Europe. In addition, we receive large quantities of fish from Norway and Denmark every week, which we also further distribute from our location.” Furthermore, we unload many fishing vessels along the entire west coast of Europe and bring the catch to the fish auction, after which it goes to processors and wholesalers. The motto of Vebatrans is therefore, “From Board to Plate. Hakvoort continues: “We know almost all the fish processors in Europe.”
Advantages off the Efficio VT7PRO
Rietveld’s new Efficio VT7PRO on-board computer is equipped with TomTom navigation, which is specifically tailored to freight traffic. Hakvoort calls this a big plus: “In addition, we appreciate Rietveld’s customer-friendly approach. What also makes the Rietveld special is the possibility for transport companies to quickly convert an additional truck themselves, thanks to the training and certification provided by Rietveld to our own people. This is optimal for us,” says Hakvoort. “We try to depend as little as possible on suppliers to have our trucks ‘up and running’ quickly as well. Every minute counts in transport.”
Integration with back office software
The Efficio VT7PRO is easy to integrate with Vebatrans’ back officesoftware. The data synchronizes with the company’s Transport Management System (TMS), in this case with Tans. Additional applications, such as Rietveld’s EasyTacho for automatic download of tacho data and EasyHours for driver payroll, can be easily integrated. “Our workshop employees also enter their hours and breaks via NMBRS after which it is linked to this system. That makes the remuneration very clear and we don’t have to enter handwritten lists.” adds Hakvoort.
Roelof Hakvoort concludes on a positive note: “To date, we really experience the Efficio VT7PRO and Rietveld’s method of working as very EASY at a very reasonable rate. I can definitely recommend Rietveld.”
