As a pilot, brand new Volvo FH Electric from Dura Vermeer was recently equipped with an advanced AI braking system from Rietveld, which detects pedestrians and intervenes autonomously when necessary.
Smart technology increases safety on and around construction sites
The use of AI in construction logistics is no longer future music: It is reality. Rietveld’s AI braking system uses a smart camera that continuously monitors a defined zone behind the vehicle. As soon as a pedestrian enters this danger zone, the driver is alerted first. If there is no response, the system automatically intervenes by braking the vehicle via the CAN bus.
This technology is particularly valuable in busy environments such as construction sites, where visibility is often limited and pedestrians can find themselves in unexpected zones.
