- Since 2012, Rietveld Foundation has been operating near the small town of Kumi in eastern Uganda in Africa, about a 6-hour drive from the capital Kampala.
Kumi Hospital is a hospital there, which used to run a farm that provided food for the hospital.
Kumi Hospital has developed over the past few decades into a general hospital with a capacity of 350 beds.
It provides primary medical care in addition to departments such as obstetrics, pediatrics, physical therapy, surgery, orthopedics and ophthalmology.In order for the hospital to become financially sound and self-sufficient again, reconstruction of the farm is necessary.
To accomplish this, the land has been re-cultivated, machinery and buildings are being rebuilt or renovated where possible.Want to know more?
