LHV legislation Germany from July 1
From July 1, 2022, an LHV vehicle must be equipped with a Blind Spot Assist system to legally drive in Germany.
LHV vehicles registered in the Netherlands must meet German requirements for cross-border transport.
Carriers can collect a hefty fine for violation.
Abbiege assistant monitors the blind spot
The assistance system also known as an Abbiegeassistent monitors the blind spot next to the LHV truck and alerts the driver when turning if something is in this corner.
When the vehicle’s speed falls below 50 kilometers per hour, the system automatically engages.
How does it work?
The blind spot system alerts the driver when something is in his or her blind spot; in this, the system itself distinguishes between moving and static objects.

LZV Covenant with Germany
Now that it is known that the Netherlands and Germany have signed a covenant to facilitate cross-border traffic, the use of an LZV has become more attractive.
An LZV is allowed to weigh 60 tons in the Netherlands and 40 tons in Germany.
Fuel consumption virtually does not increase when using an LZV, saving up to 30% in fuel costs with an LZV. Read more about LHV legislation in Germany here.
