GrootJebbink introduces an active warning camera: SmartVue DobliCam.
This is a blind spot camera and detection unit in one.
SmartVue DobliCam detects pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in a vehicle’s blind spot.
It alerts the driver via a buzzer with audible and visual signals as soon as there is a cyclist or pedestrian in the blind spot.
Full overview on the monitor
Thanks to the camera with wide-angle lens, the driver has an overview of the entire blind spot of his or her vehicle.
Once SmartVue DobliCam issues a warning, the driver can immediately see where the danger in the blind spot is located.
In addition to warning signals via the buzzer, the driver also receives notifications on the monitor.
An arrow in the screen follows the detected pedestrian or cyclist, making it extra noticeable to the driver.
Preventing false reports and irritation
To avoid false alarms, SmartVue DobliCam ignores street furniture.
Only other road users are detected.
In addition, the buzzer gives audible signals only when the right turn signal is engaged.
This avoids driver irritation over continuous signals when not needed.
Attachment and expansion
SmartVue DobliCam is particularly suitable for use on tractor-trailer combinations where there is a lot of switching between trailers.
This smart camera is also very suitable for vehicles with a container or open cargo box.
This is because the camera can be attached to the side of the cab, which means that the entire blind spot is still in view.
For added safety and visibility around the vehicle, SmartVue DobliCam is expandable with a rear view camera and a second smart camera, on the left side of the cab.
This creates optimal safety and overview of the surroundings, in any situation.
Safety standards abroad
SmartVue DobliCam can also be a godsend for transport companies that operate a lot internationally.
Indeed, in Germany, as of July 1, 2020, an active blind spot assistant will become mandatory for new LHVs.
From July 1, 2022, this obligation will apply to all LVZs operating in Germany.
If SmartVue DobliCam is expanded to include a smart camera on the left side of the cab, it also meets the FORS standard.
Transporters operating in Greater London will have to comply with new Direct Vision Standard (DVS) guidelines from 2021, for vehicles from 12 tons.
By expanding SmartVue DobliCam with the option for a smart camera on the left side of the cab, vehicles can also comply with the new DVS guidelines.
