Work lights for trucks

Why are work lights important for trucks?

Working lights on trucks enable safe and efficient work in dark or limited ambient light conditions. This is essential in sectors such as construction, recycling, transportation and waste collection, where loading, unloading and maneuvering often take place under challenging conditions. Good lighting provides better visibility of the immediate working environment, reduces the risk of incidents and increases safety for both drivers and bystanders.

Rietveld supplies a specialized range for this under the EasyLights label, with work lights from Nordic Lights and others. These lights are designed for intensive use and function faultlessly under harsh conditions. All models feature an integrated Deutsch connector for easy connection, have high EMC certification (interference-free for on-board computers and other vehicle systems), and are tested for shock, dust and water resistance.

EasyLights work lights are available in variants with R23 approval (suitable as reversing lights) and glare-free versions, making them safe for fellow road users as well. The LED technology used offers stable light output and requires hardly any maintenance. In addition, there is a 5-year warranty on the light output, making the lamps not only reliable, but also cost-saving in use.

EasyLights can be fully integrated with other Rietveld systems, such as EasyView (camera systems) and EasyDetect (object recognition). This creates one cohesive safety solution, tailored to your vehicle deployment, without separate components or duplication of effort.

Types of work lights for trucks

High Beam, Wide Flood and Diffused lamps

Depending on the application, different light beams are available:

  • High Beam lamps are used for directional remote illumination. They are ideal for situations where trucks need extra visibility over a greater distance, for example when working on poorly lit transfer yards or in port areas. An example from the Rietveld range is the Nordic Lights Scorpius GO 420 Highbeam.
  • Wide Flood work lights illuminate a wide area around the vehicle. Suitable for loading/unloading or working at short distances. Within the Rietveld range, the Scorpius GO 410R is ideally suited for this purpose.
  • Diffused beams distribute light evenly without sharp contrasts. This is useful for inspection or service work near the truck. Diffused beams are available exclusively on the Scorpius Go 420.

Reverse lamps (reversing lights)

Reversing lights are important for visibility and safety while maneuvering in reverse. They improve obstacle visibility, increase safety and support the use of reversing cameras, such as those integrated into Rietveld’s EasyView systems. Models such as the Scorpius GO 410R(R23-certified) and the Scorpius PRO 415PH (anti-glare, ideal in combination with cameras) are often used for this application.

Technical properties of work lights

Light output, color temperature and CRI

Rietveld supplies Nordic Lights work lamps with light outputs of up to 7000 lumens. The color temperature of these lamps is between 5000 and 5700 Kelvin, which is close to daylight. This contributes to a more comfortable feeling while working, less eyestrain and promotes concentration and safety. Thanks to the high CRI (Color Rendering Index) value, colors remain easily recognizable. This is especially important when objects, materials or signs must be clearly visible in low ambient light conditions.

IP rating, EMC certification and ruggedness

For professional use, work lights must be resistant to water, dust and shock. Nordic Lights’ work lights are ruggedly built and meet IP68 and IP6K9K. That means: completely dust- and waterproof, and resistant to high-pressure cleaning. Vibrations are no problem either, they have been tested up to 60G. Thanks to the high EMC rating, they also work together with other systems in the truck, such as on-board computers and sensors, without interference.

Service life and maintenance

LED work lights have a long service life, often exceeding 50,000 hours of operation. As a result, replacement is rarely necessary within the life of the vehicle. Less replacement means less downtime and lower maintenance costs. Thanks to their robust construction, the lamps continue to operate reliably under harsh conditions. In addition, Rietveld offers a 5-year warranty on the light output, providing additional security for professional use.

When do you choose which type of work lamp?

The choice of a type of work light depends on the type of vehicle, the working environment and the purpose of the lighting:

  • For maneuvers or driving activities in the dark in large, unlit areas such as construction sites, transfer ports or industrial sites, high beam lights are suitable.
  • For loading bays or tight city streets, wide flood or diffused lights are better.
  • Reversing lights are recommended for trucks that need to maneuver frequently.

Are you unsure about the right type of work light? Rietveld will be happy to think along with you based on vehicle type, deployment area and frequency of use. Our specialists will advise you on the optimum configuration, tailored to your situation. We also take into account integration into existing systems such as EasyView and EasyDetect.

Frequently asked questions about truck work lights (FAQ)

Are LED work lights suitable for constant use?

Yes, LED work lights are designed for professional use and suitable for long-term use. Thanks to their efficient heat dissipation and stable performance, they continue to function reliably even during intensive daily use.

Can I combine multiple work lights on one truck?

Yes, combining multiple work lights on one vehicle is common. This allows both ambient and directional light to be created, tailored to the work situation and vehicle type. Rietveld advises on optimal placement and an appropriate lighting plan.

Are the lamps compatible with other Rietveld systems?

Yes, the work lights can be fully integrated within the EasyLights concept and work together with other solutions from Rietveld such as EasyView (cameras), EasyDetect (detection systems) and Efficio (on-board computers).

Are the lamps waterproof and dustproof?

Yes, all of Rietveld’s work lights meet at least IP68 or IP6K9K. This makes them resistant to dust, water and high-pressure cleaning. This also makes the lamps suitable in construction, cleaning or agriculture.

How do I choose the right lamp for my application?

Choosing the right work lamp depends on several factors: the type of truck, how long and intensively the lamp will be used, and what environment you work in. Light requirements also play a role. Do you want broad light around the vehicle, or focused light at a distance? Rietveld is happy to think along with you. We provide advice based on your situation and ensure that you get a solution that really suits your work.

What voltages do Rietveld’s work lights support?

Rietveld’s work lights are available for different voltages: 12V and 24V. This makes them broadly applicable to different types of trucks, from light distribution vehicles to heavy transport vehicles. Which voltage you need depends on the type of truck and the electrical system you are connecting to.
